The Blending of Eczema and Rosacea Treatments

Eczema

Rosacea-Ltd IV can be used to improve the apperance of rosacea and eczema. Below you will find a variety of the most common forms of eczema.

Atopic eczema, the most common form of eczema, is characterized by dryness and thickening of the skin, and can lead to scarring. Atopic eczema is chronic and non-contagious, but is thought to be hereditary. It is usually located in areas of the body where the skin bends or is exposed to friction, but can also be triggered by food and environmental allergens.

One of the most pronounced features of atopic eczema is very dry, sensitive skin. When this dryness becomes extreme, cracks appear in the skin that can be extremely sore. For example, when this occurs on the backs of the knees it is very difficult to walk. If the skin cracks at the side of the mouth, it is difficult to talk.

Discoid eczema (also called gravitational eczema or stasis eczema) appears as coin-shaped areas of red skin, usually on the trunk or lower legs. These areas can itch and weep fluid, and can be worsened by a bacterial infection. Eruptions are recurrent and chronic and usually affect the elderly. The cause of discoid eczema is unknown. Discoid eczema does not run in families, and unlike atopic dermatitis, it is not associated with asthma. It does not result from food allergy. It is not infectious to other people, although it sometimes becomes secondarily infected by bacteria.

Nummular eczema most commonly appears on the arms, back, buttocks, and lower legs that may be crusted, scaling, and extremely itchy. Neurodermatitis most commonly appears as scaly patches of skin on the head, lower legs, wrists, or forearms caused by a localized itch that becomes intensely irritated when scratched. Minor skin injury such as an insect bite or a burn may start it off.

Treatments may include emollients to maintain skin hydration and to reduce inflammation. An emollient is an agent that softens and soothes the skin to make it softer. They are usually produced from a combination of water, oil, fat, and wax. They are an essential element in the successful treatment of the dry skin found in eczema, and are safe and effective. However, they are often underused.
